Chemical Peels

Chemical peels can improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin allowing the skin to exfoliate and shed. Newer, revitalized skin underneath emerges and feels smoother and less wrinkled than the old drier skin. The new skin is brighter and more sensitive, especially to the sun and gives the individual a fresh start.

Peels range in types of acids and the strength (percentage) and pH of the peel. You may see a high strength peel on the internet that is actually fairly weak because of the pH.

Knowledge of some chemistry and skin types is necessary to use chemical peels correctly and to really improve skin appearance. It is a specialty of ours at Monarch Aesthetic Medicine .

 Superficial or Light Peels:

These mild acid peels only penetrate the outermost layers of the skin and cause light exfoliation 4-5 days post peel. Helps with mild discoloration and rough skin of face, décolleté and hands.

Medium Peels:

  • VI Peel

  • Jessner

  • TCA

  • Intermediate and Advanced

  • Retinol Boosters

These peels penetrate outer and middle layers of the skin to produce more dramatic peeling to remove damage skin cells. Best for wrinkles, sun damage, brown spots and other skin discoloration (not red spots though), and smaller actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions).
