Botox and Dysport are brand names for a cosmetic injectables derived from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. They work by blocking nerve signals in the targeted muscles, causing them to relax and reducing the appearance of wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions like frowning, squinting, and smiling.

On-label uses for neurotoxin include the frown lines, forehead, and crows feet around the eyes. They are also commonly injected in off-label uses in the bunny lines, nose, lips, chin, downturned mouth, masseters, jawline, neck and trapezius.

The injections themselves are relatively quick and well tolerated. It is common to have temporary marks, tenderness, and bruising after injections that typically resolve within hours to days post-treatment.

At regular price Botox is $12.50/unit and Dysport is $4/unit. The units recommended per treatment are dependent on the patient and the areas being treated. Pricing is always transparently discussed at the visit prior to injection.
